Cross-cultural workers face “a complex mix of experiences: good and bad, invigorating and exasperating, praise worthy and regrettable.” In partnership with Paracletos, we are offering a week of training that will prepare you to be able to better support especially missionaries in transition.

Learn skills that will help you and others create a “culture of care,” especially around cross-cultural servants. An excellent opportunity for church missions team members, missionary agency board members, and anyone who wants to improve the ways we care for one another in times of transition.

This special opportunity will be offered at a substantial savings to attending a typical Paracletos training. Space is intentionally limited so that all participants can fully engage and receive all this week has to offer. Register today!

NOTE: This is a training event, not a debreifing. If you are a missionary or Christian worker family looking for help in the process of your journey and/or transition, Paracletos will be offering a whole family debriefing in partnership with Canyon Debreifing this July 17-23 in Flagstaff, Arizona (USA). More from Paracletos about this course:

We build around the paradigm of sheep dogs. Sheep dogs receive their instructions from the Shepherd; they do not act on their own. By spending vast amounts of time with the Shepherd, they come to recognize his voice, his heart. When debriefing someone, they keep an ear on the Shepherd and an eye on the debriefee, responding to what they see according to what they hear from the Shepherd. They work in partnership.

We believe that “the story you live in is the story you live out.” Our goal is to help debriefees reframe their story so they can resume their journey with resilience.

The course is very interactive, with numerous role-playing exercises. Each participant receives a comprehensive notebook of resources (one per couple, one per single) that will enable them to “plug and play” directly, or customize their own program. You will also receive a flash drive with all of the syllabus materials, handouts for use in debriefing, and additional resources. All of our materials are copyright-free, so you can customize your own as needed. All of that, plus a tote full of specialized materials for conducting the exercises covered in the training.

Topics covered:

  • What debriefing is, and why it’s important
  • Requirements for facilitating meaning connection
  • Establishing an appropriate setting
  • Essential qualities of a debriefer
    • Character
    • Safety
    • Attentive listening
    • Ability to elicit their story
    • Ability to appropriately validate and normalize your debriefees
    • Ability to set and maintain appropriate limits
